Ah, true. You would hope they could tunnel the DigiSerial protocol over Thunderbolt, it's not like there's a bandwidth or latency constraint.

How about a MTRX that had Thunderbolt, SPQ and Dante...

What you have proposed is pretty much the AX64 :)

The only thing HD Native has going for it relatively is the 64x2 LLM mixer, but perhaps with a bit of work Pro Tools could coax DADman into...

What if they put Carbon on a MTRX card? They’d get to reuse a lot of their existing investment, might be enough DSP for tracking, and the I/O would simply be provided by the MTRX switch itself.

Also, no AES on the new interfaces, which is less than ideal. I’ve lots of stuff that uses AES, nothing ADAT. Of course, I’m not going to trade in my MTRX for something without DigiLink anyway!

True. I never got DVS or the Avid CoreAudio Server working reliably on a MacPro7,1. Perhaps things have changed. Instead, I use an AVIO adapter for general listening, and a separate MADI interface...

If you need high I/O counts simply to route to and from the Dolby renderer, then clearly a better solution is a variation on the Dolby Audio Bridge that lets you continue...

If I've done my math right (which I may not have, ha), then a 16x PCIe 3.0 slot as one finds in the Mac Pro should be able to handle 4096 channels of 32-bit 96kHz audio (12.6GB/s).

I suspect this is unlikely. Hosting user interface is another process whilst maintaining a comfortable user experience is difficult if you’re not Apple (they have private interfaces to do this).
