Excuse my dumb idea but if your MBPro has been asleep you may need to restart it. PT does not like sleep even if it's not running when the machine nods off.

I uninstall both those items after every upgrade - even before I restart the machine. ;)

When I am in that muti-tool mode, hovering over the bottom right (for example) corner of a clip or edit will bring up the "crossfade" tool while hovering over the top right will bring up the "fade"...

I could be wrong but I think ProTools may default to putting the Mix screen on the "primary" display. You could try swapping your displays so that mix is on the one you prefer and that's the one...

Be sure that "prefs" >> "security and privacy" is not blocking the driver from being fully installed. Sometimes you need to go there to give the installer permission to finish the job.
