You may be getting buffer underruns with KClip at that buffer size on that type of system, yes. Good quality sound doesn't come cheap.

Recabinet 3 is an RTAS plugin, so yes, you'd use it as you're describing. Your machine should be more than up to the task of live tracking with a plugin if it meets the requirements of 11R.
