Re: 2022.9 - Two Questions

midnightrambler, so do I!!! And I want all that space to myself!!! To be fair, PT is still better than most other DAWs in this regard, outside Reaper. I think this issue is all Apple's influence: the...

Re: 2022.9 - Two Questions

nednednerb, I can see how that would happen. Nah, I haven't been on here for a literal decade. Before 2022.9 I last posted in 2012! That comment was just me feeling relentlessly pursued by this...

Re: 2022.9 - Two Questions

Thanks, take77! Haven't been regular on here in a looong time and so didn't see any of that. Well...that's gonna bug me quite a bit. :D Anyway, thanks again for clearing up the mystery for me!

Re: 2022.9 - Two Questions

Thanks, Dizaineris. I did see there were commands for opening/closing the tabs themselves, but I'm after closing that 1/2 inch row entirely, where the 3 tabs are. I'm getting the feeling it's not an...

Re: 2022.9 - Two Questions

Interesting response. You're reacting to way more than my question. To restate my question, without the perhaps confusing preliminaries: is there a way to hide that tab row? Yes or no? If yes, how?...

2022.9 - Two Questions

1. Not a fan of the horizontal screen splitting paradigm of Logic...and now Pro Tools 2022.9. If the majority of us dig it, then I guess it is what it is, but I prefer having key commands for full...

Re: Error Launching Video Engine

Just wanted to shout out Guy for sharing his install process! In the middle of a film project I installed 2022.9 and had the same video engine error. Following manz suggestions,...

Setting Up Novation SL MkII in Advanced Mode, Automap Disabled

Background:

I am thinking of keeping my Novation 61SL MkII as a master controller even though Automap doesn't play well with my system. I will not install it again. I have until Tuesday to return...

Talking to Yourself

How badly do you guys talk to yourselves while working? Am I the only one in an ongoing dialogue with nobody else around. "Alright, that's how you sound at -1.2db, maybe you want -1.5db...." :D

Multi-Mono Trim Plug-In on Stereo Track?

Does using a multi-mono trim plug-in on a stereo track cause any issues? Are there any sonic consequences to doing this? I remember reading a warning about being cautious with multi-mono plugs on...

Re: Web Specs?

I chose to go with -16 LKFS. I know you suggested LUFS, but I just went with LKFS. Been using it to hit spec for PBS and just decided to use it here. My peaks are between -6 and -8. I adjust the...

Re: Template Advice - Workflow/Gain Staging

Marti, I haven't. I don't even have a TV. Funny, right? I just started. Only experience is in music and producing/mixing my own work. So far I've mixed two commercials and done scoring/sound...

Re: Daily Near-field Calibration Discussion

3 for 76...and 3 against the NS10 :D Maybe 79 on the NS10 is more like 69 with the psychoacoustics factor! I would love to calibrate to 69. Heh. Greg, thank you so much for explaining this. I was...

Re: Daily Near-field Calibration Discussion

Groundcontrol, you monitor near-field on the BM-5A at 79 comfortably? or on whatever monitor you use, Cananball? If you monitor on the BM-5A and go to the NS10, do you feel like it's suddenly louder?...

Re: Daily Near-field Calibration Discussion

Full scale was mentioned in reference to modern music production. Just an aside. I also mentioned how when doing music I keep the average volume at conversational level, raising it for checks and...

Re: Daily Near-field Calibration Discussion

Sure, but I have to hit spec. And to hit even a conservative -24 LKFS TV spec it gets very loud. But maybe you're right. Maybe it's my mixing and I just have too much high mid range in the mix...

Daily Near-field Calibration Discussion

In another thread I started on workflow, a very interesting discussion has been going on regarding appropriate calibration for daily monitoring in the near-field. There is almost a dogma around...

Re: Dithering from 32 Float to 24 Bit

That makes sense if dithering does nothing for a BTD from 24 to 24. Is this the case? What then is this X-factor Bob notices? Maybe that difference is just in comparing bouncing from a 32 float...
