Re: De-Essing......where in the chain?

I tend to not use any processign when recording.
The goal for me is to record as flat as possible, then mess with it later.

Re: De-Essing......where in the chain?

EQ->De-Ess->Compress.

problem now, is the esses are killing you.
If you compress first,...

Re: 7.3 no waves!

I really like the Altiverb at work, but am going to check out the Wizoo verb at home.
Again, for EQ to notch stuff out, Equium is head and shoulders above Waves.
I really like the sonalksis plug-in...

Re: 7.3 no waves!

Please don't start talking about industry standards, because they've sunk quite low IMO.
As far as Waves, yes, They're crap.
We were more than happy to lose the Q series eq's that were grainy and...

Re: HD cards vs CPUs

Re: HD cards vs CPUs

Uum, he already stated he's running a Dualcore machine, and wants to add another dual core.
AFAIK, yes, you will at that point double your plug-in count.

Re: HD cards vs CPUs

Well, first lkets get rid of the 'TDM plug-ins sound better" myth.
I've done phase cancealltion expe4riments, and the same signal processed by both versions of plug-ins, cancels out comnpletely.

Re: MAC vs PC

Absolutley.
If you want to sit ther going "DumDiDiDumDiDa&", while the little color pie wheel spins, get a Mac.

Re: MAC vs PC

I've never had this happen. Ever.

If you're going to run XP, get a PC, and save yourself a pile of dough.
If you're going to run OSX, get a Mac.

Smae here on my PC.

Re: Mixing 5.1 for Discovery

Like I said. We get a day to MIX and playback.
Not mix, record VO, edit the OMF and add FX.
Usually end up being 6 hours to mix, and then 2 hours for playback and fixes.

Please explain this to me

Since Digi has their sofwtare coded so it only works on their hardware.
Why do you need an Ilok with M-Powered, and not with LE?

Re: OMF files/ Sonar to Protools Conversion

For one, the studio you're dealing wiht should have the converison sofwtare, if they want your business.
So, exporting from sonar as an OMF is the option.
But, your othe roptionj is to get a copy...

Re: MPowered 7.3

maybe it's time for Digi to overhaul their Beta etsting program.
It's clearly not working.

Re: MPowered 7.3

manually compensating should not even be at question anymore.
NOT having full ADC this day and age is simply pathetic.

Re: 7.3 -- It\'s here! ;)

Do you have the URS or McDSP plugins?
If so, move them to the "unused Plugins" folder, and see what happens.
If you watch the bootup screen, as it cycles through loading the plug-ins, it will stop...

Re: Mixing 5.1 for Discovery

Having to pull a mix down by 4db to meet a spec is quite a big move.
The balances between music SFX and dialogue will be all out of proportion now.

And wait untill you do a 5.1 using the phantom...

I didn't say they're mixed differently.

Re: 7.3 -- It\'s here! ;)

Same here. URS and McDSP plugins had to be romoved.
But so far, M-Powered is running better than it ever has.
It used to crash every 5 minutes, rendering it unuseable.

Re: Mixing 5.1 for Discovery

All this very nice.
But if they're expecting people to spend alot of time trying to make the show sound great AND meet this retarded load of nonsense along with all the LM100 crap, I don't know how...
