Re: ADDING WARMTH IN MASTERING

I want to second the opinion about not loading it up again in PT and adding more stuff to it. You will begin to notice the 'digital harshness'(especially in LE). Try your best to get it right with...

Re: Analog Channel Uses

Charle's Dye talks about it in a back issue of DigiZine here (http://www.digidesign.com/digizine/archive/digizine_february03/contents.cfm?body=mixing/index.cfm)

Re: Carving EQ holes

The Studio Covers site has some good general tips for eq'ing - but keep in mind some of the dates on the references they use. To stay current in your music vibe, listen to the changing mixing trends....

Re: Warming up the front end

Keep in mind that the Avalon vt737 is a single channel pre/comp. - and the instruments you listed that you want to "warm up" are synths which are stereo.

I love my Avalon 737 on guitars, vocal and...

Re: CRANE SONG\'S PHOENIX- BOY DO I lOVE IT!!!!!!

After hearing Phoenix at a recent HD Accel tour, the thing that stayed with me was the smoothness and very apparent "tape-like" quality - not a boost in volume. If you have not heard it, you really...

Re: Newbie question on editing automation data

I don't know of any way to do what you are trying to do, and have never had the need to enter in the volume numerically. I really don't see what the benefit would be, but for now I hope you can make...

Re: How to delete multiple takes?

I like to put my fades on the keeper take, and then consolidate this as a new file. (Now, if there were any other little pieces of that file hanging around, you'll be able to delete them. Without...

Re: How do I remove duplicate MIDI notes?

If there is a way to delete double MIDI notes, I don't know about it. I think this would be a great additional feature to the MIDI sequencer in PT.

Also, how about a way to steadily decrease or...

Re: It\'s coming!!! Drummers watch out:-)

I'm inclined to think that these demos we're hearing of the new DFH were played with some sort of triggers/pads. If you use this method and don't go too strong with quantizing when you edit, you can...

Re: SHOULD THE MASTER FADER ALWAYS STAY AT UNITY G

Re: SHOULD THE MASTER FADER ALWAYS STAY AT UNITY G

Here is a quote from the Digi Administrator from Michaux's other thread about this subject:

Re: SHOULD THE MASTER FADER ALWAYS STAY AT UNITY G

There was a very interesting article about all this in DigiZine called "Mixing In the Box." Check it out.

Re: How much will a good clock affect converters?

Although I don't usually use the 001 converters, I did notice a change with them after I got my Rosetta and it became my clock source. The biggest change was with clarity even with a large track...

Re: SHOULD THE MASTER FADER ALWAYS STAY AT UNITY G

As I mentioned in my post about this, you can use the "All" function at the very top of your Group lists down in the lower left corner. This will make what you do to one track happen to all of them....

Re: SHOULD THE MASTER FADER ALWAYS STAY AT UNITY G

No, they do not all pop back up if you use the trim tool in the edit window and lower the volume. Select all the volume for the track for the duration of the song, and bring it down with the trim...

Re: SHOULD THE MASTER FADER ALWAYS STAY AT UNITY GAIN?

I have found the best sound mixing in PT is not driving the Master Fader so hard. Don't be afraid of not having a hot enough mix - the Mastering Engineer will usually have nice gear to compress and...

Re: off topic - bluegrass band mic uses

This is how I've heard Bluegrass, also. If they've been at it a while, they should know about this technique of working the mic. I think it will sound more raw and compliment the genre of music. You...

Re: Studio monitor advice??

"Studio in a Box" by RPG for acoustical treatment. At around $450.00 you get 4 bass traps, and lots of 1 x 1 and 4 x 2 panels. I like them better than Auralex.

Re: Easier way?

Hello,

I think you'll get a response to your question if you are a lot more specific about exactly what you're trying to do. What exactly are you recording? What is this second track? Why are you...

Re: Level for Bouncing, Using Compression

First of all, will you be having these tracks mastered? If so, you want a decent level, but let the mastering engineer give it the comp. and limiting - they usually have much better gear.

If...

Re: question about doubling vocals...mix related

Have you ever duplicated the Vocal track, then heavily compressed the copy and added a little of that to the original? I've done this on occasion with cool results. Do you have the Waves Gold Bundle?...

Re: Reverb on kick drum?

In the MIDI/Sample world, I run into the need to make programmed drums sound as "live" as possible. I like to give each drum track a little room reverb to give it a "recorded in a nice studio sound"....

Re: automation on a bus

On the selections available for that track in the edit window- where you select waveform, volume, pan, etc., - there will be a selection for "send 1/2" or whatever. This will show the automation that...
