Re: PT 10 bouncing issue

Look at your automation graphs for that track. Mutes and un-mutes can really screw you up if your automation read starts in the wrong place.

Re: Pro tools 10 and apogee ensemble

Ugh...I have an Ensemble also and it's working under 9. Very sorry to hear this!

Re: Pro tools 10 and apogee ensemble

Does the Ensemble show up as a selection under the Playback Engine?

Re: PT9 HD doesn't recognize Apogee Ensemble as CoreAudio

OK...the problem was that I hadn't set up Ensemble in the Setup/Playback Engine area. Thanks to Ryan and those fine techs at Sweetwater for making my upcoming holiday brighter and less stressful!

PT9 HD doesn't recognize Apogee Ensemble as CoreAudio

PT10 HD to recognize the Ensemble as a CoreAudio device. I've selected all the different options in AudioMIDI setup and in Settings. PT comes up with "BlackMagic" in the HW setup under peripherals,...

Re: contextual menu appears by "accident"

Solved it, I think. I had "Tap trackpad using two fingers for secondary click" checked in prefs, so I guess when I would land two fingers together too quickly to click and drag, the menu would pop...

Re: contextual menu appears by "accident"

Actually, no, I just made it happen when the clip was not selected. It happens when I hold down the click area on the trackpad and then use another finger to either move the vol bar up and down or...

contextual menu appears by "accident"

When I have a clip selected and I'm pulling up the volume bar with smart tool, sometimes a context menu pops up instead of raising the bar. I've tried to re-create this. Not sure if it's because I'm...

Re: **PT10 Bug - Pencil Tool/Clip Gain

Doesn't that reduce the waveform view also? In my case I wouldn't be able to see the click then. I could set zoom buttons, but again, this starts to be a multi-step workaround that is getting very...

Re: Pencil Tool madness

In this case it pertains to audio captured via an mp3 recording device that will be used in an industrial court case. Definitely lo-fi, but intelligibility of the spoken word is of the utmost...

Re: Pencil Tool madness

Yes, I posted there, thanks. This is for forensic audio with +24 dB clip gain and multiple passes w/iZotope Audiosuite plugs. I would not even be able to hear or see the click if I cleared clip gain....

Re: **PT10 Bug - Pencil Tool/Clip Gain

BTW, I think the point about it being related to clip gain is well taken in my case. I'm working on a 6 hour long forensic audio file taken from an MP3 recorder. Often, the audio has to be raised by...

Re: **PT10 Bug - Pencil Tool/Clip Gain

Hmmm...maybe this is related to the pencil tool bug I posted in PT 10 Mac forum. When I try to pencil out a click, it makes the amplitude infinite so that I only see the left and right side of the...

Pencil Tool madness

When I try to draw out clicks, the pencil tool makes amplitudes that are apparently infinite and peak right off the page. Very weird.

Re: Best budget field recorder

Since mikrofon in German and since the plural of "mic" makes no phonic sense in spoken English...

Past tense is "miked"', gerund is "miking". I don't care what the current fad is on audio boards.

Re: Best budget field recorder

Most of the time I'm running a dual setup, so I don't really care about the on-board mikes. I just use the device as a recorder.

When I use a stereo mike, it's generally a Sony that has a variable...

Re: Best budget field recorder

I was commenting on the quality of the HDP2 pres only, as reference to Tascam pres, not suggesting it for surround. Since I own that unit, I'm familiar with its sound. I'm not a big fan of Tascam...

Re: Best budget field recorder

I did an indie short with a Tascam HDP2. Tascam pres are OK, nothing special.

For features, I'd go with one of the Sound Devices units. You get what you pay for. I mean, are you just doing stereo...

Re: Best budget field recorder

Anyone who is using either the Zoom or the Olympus for audiophile stuff is being foolish. They have their place, though, and the Zoom is indestructible.

The new Zoom H1 is really simple (and really cheap, less than $100 US):
