It runs very fine on my MBP 13" with a C2D at 2.53 ghz and 4G RAM (40 tracks and a few plug ins (waves) but no VI), so your computer is powerful enough ! Just check the compatibility page !

My sessions are most of the time at 48kHz, but I need to take sounds from the finder every 5 minutes. And those sounds can be whatever... It seems the problem is coming from here !

Hi,
I think what I was talking about is magnetism ; the shortcut in FCP is "n". The suffle mode is nice but you can easily screw your session...

If you want a very good computer, get a mac pro loaded with ram, cpu and memory, but maybe it will be to much if you just want to record yourself...

I am quite new to firewire but I think it is not so good to use a hub. With firewire 800, you can chain the equipment : computer -> HD1 -> HD2 - Audio card.
