Re: Something like Heat for LE?

Massey Tapehead is a really elegant sounding plug, but it's best used on several key tracks - it's a little much for the mix buss. It is, to sound cliche, very "phat" and warm - very silky when you...

Just did a search for "10.6.3" here, no results...

Anyway - is the latest update good for PT8 users? Any issues?

Any specifics on updating - combo installer, anything like that?

thanks all.

Re: will this work or is it a dumb idea?

Do you have a mono analog audio output on the mBox? I've reamped with my 410, just choose a mono out and plug it right into an amp, start with levels very low. (After reading Craig Anderton's...

Re: Elastic Audio Tricks you may not have thought about

If you're a lousy singer but you need a scratch vocal track -

Copy your mix to a new track or session.

Use pitch shift to drop the key by a half step to a step - make a note of what value you...

Re: Are my ears EQ'ed differently?

When I was a teenager, I'd had some chronic ear infections and went to an ear doc to have my ears cleaned.

Man, what a TRIP that was - they vaccumed (literally) my ears out. Suddenly, it was like...

Re: CPU Overload (error 6101) on intel macbook pro

I was plagued by a lot of this stuff on a PPC G5, and I recreated my setup when I moved to a Mac Pro (other than the Pro is PCIE);

I've got a $10 eBay Firewire card, with 400 and 800 jacks; I run...

Re: CPU Overload, but only using 4 of my 8 cores - HELP!!!!

Y'know, it's pretty easy to click the checkbox and give it a try - it doesn't permanently record clicks & pops to your tracks, should they happen at all - they're just playback errors.

Strike install on Snow Leopard

Going from PPC to Mac pro intel - strike is giving me fits.

(My G5 died, so I can get files from the old disk but can't boot it)

Did a fresh install of a brand-new retail-boxed M-Powered 8;...

Re: Some Quick Questions - Intel Mac & M-Powered

Thanks - been trying to find the "recommended firewire cards" page, sure it's around her somewhere - using a card on my G5 did make a noticeable improvement. And it's cheap.

Re: Some Quick Questions - Intel Mac & M-Powered

Thanks guys - what about the firewire situation - I'll try some more specific searches here, any anecdotal stuff from anyone, pro or con, on adding a firewire card to give the hardware its own buss?...

And this is ALSO what I REALLY REALLY want...

I think the mix window DESPERATELY NEEDS this:

Select a bunch of tracks (say, all of your drums) and choose something like "mix folder" (as opposed to mix groups).

Those tracks are then...

Re: THIS is what I WANT...

Yeah, I hear ya - I'm still on a dual G5, I seem to bounce a lot of tracks.

And yep, I could see it looking like consumer-kid stuff, but I'm filling up two 19' widescreens with PT, and the mix...

Re: Recording Acoustic Guitar Questions

I'd agree with the posters who say "DI as a last resort" - as even very very good acoustic guitar pickup systems don't record very well - the best of 'em still sound like "acoustic with a pickup".

Re: Strike. Who's revisited it?

I've loved it since day one. It's fraught with "new software" issues that are long documented around here, and I'm amazed it's been this long since a major upgrade - especially since it's a fairly...

Yes, another Strike Feature Request!!!!

Y'know what I realized would be REALLY HANDY...

On the Strike virtual keyboard panel - for any key that triggers a part that has been placed in a session... highlight that key in some subtle way....

Re: Strike - How to change pattern length

To kill the repetition, the "complexity level" can go a long may; make sure to map the complexity in your session to trigger alternate beats.

Massive improvement for M-Audio on OS X

Dang.

I've had a session that's just grown and grown track & plugin wise, really maxing out my processing until it was un-mixable. (G5, 5 GB RAM). I've done everything to get low latency & high...
