Time to move the Digi001, tips, what to do?

I've reached the point where I'm trying to decide what to do with my 001. I don't use it all that much anymore, so I'm even debating doing nothing. Time to retire the G4 tower it is in, last of the...

5v vs. 3v PCI

The difference between 3.3v PCI and 5V pci is in the signalling levels present on the bus. The PCI standard is moving towards lower voltages for many valid technical reasons.

PCI cards are notched...

Re: Yamaha Motif 6 + 001 5.2.1 on OS9?

Bummer. Can you clue me in on how/if you got it working?

This midi stuff is driving me nuts lately. I'm even having problems with the 001's own midi port sometimes. It may be that my machine (a...

PodXT Pro (rack mount)

I just got one of these new PodXT Pro rackmounts in and I have to say I like it a lot. I had a Pod 2.0 and to be honest, just didn't care for the sound much at all. Also didn't like having wires...

Yamaha Motif 6 + 001 5.2.1 on OS9?

I'm seriously considering a yamaha Motif 6 to use with my 001 LE setup on OS9.

One feature on the Motif6 is a built-in USB-midi bridge, so I only need to run USB to the keyboard. I'm just curious,...

Re: Can the iPod be used as a storage drive?

Wrong. It's a special drive for the iPod, it is NOT a standard 2.5 inch drive. In fact, a 2.5 inch drive is bigger than the iPod itself, which is 2.44 inches wide on the outside!

Re: No clip light in meters after upgrade?

I can get the clip indicator when playing back, or when metering post fader.

However I can't seem to hit it on pre-fader metering, which is where I'd find it useful.

No clip light in meters after upgrade?

I finally upgraded my stuff all the way to 5.1.1 last night and everything seems to be solid and stable.

However, I've noticed that the meters will not indicate a clip input anymore. I can bury...

Re: Are Digi001 preamps good enough for vocs/mics??

I haven't found anything wrong with the pre's in the 001. Quiet and neutral, seem to lack a bit of headroom but for most purposes very useable. I think the phantom power is a bit shy of 48 volts from...

Re: track number for RealVerb RTAS?

Realverb has a nice sound. Like any good reverb plugin, it does consume a lot of processor cycles.

The best way to use it is to put one or two realverb plugins on seperate channels and use sends...

Re: ATA, SCSI, or Firewire Hard Drive?

ATA/100 is just a slightly faster cable transfer rate. ATA/100 drives are backwards compatible with all ATA hosts (computers or interface cards).

The G4's have ATA/66 capable controllers and will...

Re: Digi001 and new Apple goods....

I tried it in a G4/533 single 4-slot machine. It seemed to work very well. Wait of course for Digi to approve it. I was able to add 4 instances of RealVerb to the "Be There" demo track (one in place...

One other way to optimize is to...

Re: Plextor CD-RW 12/10/32

there are "bargain" Neumann mics sold in the USA, which are actually "grey market" imports. They are not brought in through the authorized sales channel and sole US importer, which is Neumann USA.

Re: Getting a good mic pre amp. Any suggestions?

Try out a Peavy VMP2. They are in the $700 neighborhood, and it's a pretty good sounding all tube mic preamp with good transformers in it.

Great bang-to-buck ratio.

Re: Recommend CD burners for Mac G3powerbook?
