ah, beat me to it! just got the same word from Avid, tried it with built-in on my mac book pro and it worked fine as well. will check with the 002R & M-Audio FW410 at home later.

if you check my original post above you see the steps - installed all new drivers, uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. installed drivers with 002 on and connected and off and disconnected, etc. my fw port...
