Re: Best Desktops for PTLE

What is the difference between the Asus A8V Deluxe and the A8VE deluxe? Is there any performance differences or are they both basically the same?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Re: Can\'t playback session without using MBOX

How do you set it to be your default playback, and what drivers/programs are needed?

Re: Mk012\'s or MXL603\'s for overheads?? Any Experience

Both mics are great mics for the price. I've used the 603's a few times on overheads and they sounded pretty good. I also used them and the octava's a ton for acoustic guitars and percussion. I...

Re: How much is your Waves L2 Limiting?

Yeah, that pretty much means everything's up too hot. That's why the master fader is cool b/c you can just pull it down to taste.

Re: How much is your Waves L2 Limiting?

I agree with Chris that 10db is too much. The L2 is pretty strong...It can really screw with stuff. Lower the master fader so its not limiting very much and then do what Chris said about adding...

Re: How to get fatter vocals?

1/16th, 8th, or even quarter note delays w/ lowpass filters going into the reverbs work well.

Jeremy

**nevermind...now I see the part about not looking for a delay!

Re: automation question

I guess routing it through an aux and would work also.

Thanks,

Re: automation question

yeah, but I mean keep the automation, bc I'm happy with where it goes up and down, but use the fader to pull it all up or down in while leaving the relative automation in place.

How can I write volume automation to a track, but still be able to use the fader to adjust the overall volume level, without rewriting it for the whole song. I've done it before by writing the...

Re: Direct Box or...

I don't know about the plain sansamp DI box, but their bass-specific box is pretty good. I've owned a dmp3 also, and the sansamp wins out over it. Also the joe meek vc6q is good for DI'ing bass and...

Re: Talkback - Gates, Comps, and Sidechains

How do I generate SMPTE. I knew you could do it in analog, but don't know how on PT. (I'm in LE, but didn't get any replies over there)

Thanks

Re: Talkback - Side Chain, Gates and compressors

The gate on my talkback is pretty trick if not unusable. If you want to monitor at high levels or if you bump the desk, they hear it. If you set the threshold higher you have to yell.

I only...

I've been trying to figure this out for a while, but can't quite get it. There has got to be a way to set up an aux as my talkback channel, where whether using the sidechain on a gate or compressor,...

Re: Digi002 & Alesis HD24 Transfers

I've used the firewire "fireport" also and it worked great. I was thinking about this same thing today. With optical, I wonder if you could slave the hd24 to the 002 so that the 8track groups would...

I have used the hd24 a good bit. I did a project where most of the tracks were recorded and then I used the alesis "fireport" to transfer the .wav files to ProTools for editing and mixing. I think...

Re: Powered Speakers

You can get professional quality from the Mbox. The pre's are decent on there. Definitely don't get the 001, the pre's are worse on it. The most important thing in your recording is going to be...

Re: Any Point in Recording @ 48K if ending up on CD?

It's probably better to just record in 44.1. That way you reduce the math needed and the difference between the 2 isn't that big of a deal. 16 bit to 24 bit is a much more noticeable difference.

Re: Best Laptops for PTLE
