Key word here was analog. We physically punched the pre/post switch when needed. And no in my experience (44 years!) there were no consoles that automated pre/post switches.

Can someone tell how far along the conversation got with regard to automating the pre/post switch on aux sends? I'm finding it increasingly limiting to do a workaround for something that was so easy...
