1. Why does my mix sound so much different after exporting (usually for the worse)? I've tried multiple file types, bit, etc

I suggest putting all music projects on an external device like a usb. After installing move the files back onto your computer.

I had errors after upgrading from 8 to 8.1. All I had to do was do a fresh install.

Thanks. Windows 8 has a compatibility mode for installing/running programs.

I'm going to try this. Apparently best buy lets you return a laptop even ask free you've used it? Going to double check...

Thanks for replying. I ran the windows compatibility assistant and all my software is compatible but pro tools didn't show up on the yes or no list. I've heard from one person they haven't had any...

As stated above, it is usually due to the specs of your computer not keeping up with what pro tools is trying to place on it.
Try going to the playback engine, and change everything to the highest...
