Re: Royer R-121 vs. Oktava Ribbon mic

I've heard the Octavia ribbon, and the one we tested was not up to much. I suppose it may have been a bad one, but I was surprised at how bad it was. The Beyer ribbons are much better IMO if you...

MP3 problem

I'm having a problem with my digi MP3 add on software. It used to work OK, but now gives me 'Program error -2802 while looking up symbol Codec Init in MP3 dll' message and will not fire up.

Anyone...

Re: Presonus Digimax vs Focusrite Octopre

I have the Octopre and am very pleased with the sound of it, better than I was expecting in fact. Also heaps of low noise gain, and useful instrument inputs.

Re: Digi 002

Looks like a nice unit and will probably sell by the truckload.

Would I buy it? The answer is no, because I am fairly happy with my 001 system, and the 002 does not offer me anything extra that I...

digi 002 question

Will the digi 002 work together with digi 001 on the same computer? I am interested in buying a digi 002 but only if I can still use the 001 for extra I/O.

I want to be able to bounce 16 tracks...

Re: Octopre

Hi

I bought one yesterday and so far am very pleased with the sound, and the comp/limiter works well too. I'm very glad I bought it instead of the digimax.

Only thing is no digital board yet,...

Re: Anybody reccomendations on lightpipe patchbays

The Fostex unit will pass 24 bit at 44.1 or 48. If all you want to do is connect 3 lightpipe devices to your digi 001 it's great. If memory serves it cost me about NZ$200 (about US$100).

Re: Anybody reccomendations on lightpipe patchbays

I have a Fostex DP-8 lightpipe/SPDIF patchbay that has worked perfectly for years (unlike some Fostex stuff) and does not need computer to control it. It has 6 lightpipe I/Os and 2 SPDIF. A real time...

Re: Burning Speeds for Cd Audio ???

I find I get best mastering results on my system at 2x speed rather than 1x which is strange. Seems to be system dependent. I get great results with the TDK product, I was worried when they stopped...

Re: Microphone recommendation

Yup

That's the trouble, trying to find a cheaper new mic as good as a KM 184 is a bit like selling someone a dead parrot images/icons/wink.gif

Re: anyone use the presonus digimax?

I was warned off the Digimax by an engineer who hired two for a live recording project. He found them too noisy, even in the live situation, and also got really hot after extended use, which may mean...

Re: seeking ideas, headphones in studio

I like the Beyer DT 100s as you can easily and cheaply replace earpads, cables, etc when they become worn out with use. Also they are available in several different impedences so you can chain...
