Some of us are seeing issues that are at an even lower level than drivers.

I might have the same issue with a M1 mac mini: no power, not seen by MacOS at all.
But also, the cable that came in the box was a Mini DisplayPort cable, not Thunderbolt.
Could that be an issue?

I find myself in a similar conundrum.
I just got a Thunderbolt HD Native to use with a new M1 mac mini. Got the same recommended USB-C-to-TB2 adapter from Apple and performed all the required setup...
