Re: Workflow Q: Do not monitor unless recording only?

iPad (or even phone) running Avid Control will show you if the transport is still rolling.

Re: PT2021 + macbook pro speakers + Sony WH-1000XM3

Yes, you should eliminate both problems by using a wire.

The XM3's do support the latest AptX HD codec, which is lossless under certain circumstances and has a latency of about 40ms, which is fine...

Re: PT2021 + macbook pro speakers + Sony WH-1000XM3

Your screenshot shows the Bus page. You won't get the headphones to be a bus.

Bear in mind that using BT headphones will:
1) result in quite a lot of added latency, so you will only be able to...

Re: Carbon Fan Noise

It's better with the latest firmware, but I still find it intrusive.

I tried putting the Carbon in a small closed rack and it got really hot, so I have it out, sitting on a laptop stand with...

Re: Has anyone tried Pro Tools 2021.7 on the Monterey Betas?

Yes, totally agree - although there are so many connection types now that it's impossible to please everyone with every kind of legacy device.

The UK three-pin power plug is designed to always lie...

Re: Has anyone tried Pro Tools 2021.7 on the Monterey Betas?

HDMI is there, right or wrong, for office users.
Loads of people roll up at offices (their own, or customers' or suppliers') and the screens on the desks and the projectors in the meeting rooms...

Re: Apple Mac Pro - M1 Pro & M1 Max

Do you mean Mac Pros? I don't think you do. ;)

Re: Apple MacoBook Pro M1 Pro & M1 Max!

About 18 months ago, I ordered a 2019MBP, i9, 16" with 64/2 and it was £3899 in the UK.
The full-bore new one (M1 Max 32GPU) with 64/2 is £4099 - so a 5% increase over 18 months. Yes, Apple is...

Re: Carbon and Eucon, S3 and AVB??

My recollection is that there is no 'support' for either hubs (MOTU or otherwise) nor for use of the 2nd port (for any reason). However, I think if you dig back through this sub-forum you will find...

Re: Apple MacoBook Pro M1 Pro & M1 Max!

But a fullscreen movie won't have the notch. The resolution without the notch is 16:10 aspect ratio. They've added screen estate above the 'normal' screen.

Hardly worth fussing about but it seems...

Re: Carbon- Basic Questions..

Seriously? You're going to challenge someone wanting a mute button for headphones, as if it's an unreasonable request?

Re: Window focus randomly changing... and it's the Avid HD Driver

You can install Catalina on a MacPro 2019 so there's no reason you can't go back to Big Sur 11.4 or earlier. You probably will need to do a full install from scratch though.

Re: Carbon- Basic Questions..

Neater cabling. The ability to leave your mics plugged into the back of the Carbon at the same time.
Line input specs are the same for TRS and DB25, as per the manual.

Re: Carbon- Basic Questions..

Yes, comb filtering is basically from using 2 (or more) mics on one source. And you can get it from different mic distances, regardless of converters.

Re: Carbon- Basic Questions..

There will (probably) be a difference in timing between the analog channels and the ADAT channels, but it will be in the region of less than a couple of milliseconds. It might be substantially less....

Re: GUI freezes frequently with 2021.6 on M1 Mac

Fully agree that Janne is excellent and helpful in almost every post. I'm objecting specifically to this issue, and I've also made my point.

On the separate subject of Migration Assistant, I agree...

Re: Recording stops with no errors

One possibility - dodgy keyboard / spacebar. Worth trying an alternative. It would explain the lack of error message.

Re: Carbon- Basic Questions..

Yes, it does, the 8 ADAT channels work just like the 8 analog inputs.
What you do need to think about is the difference in A/D timings of the converters in the Carbon compared to the converters in...

Re: Connecting a TC Clarity metering to Carbon

I've had no success in using Carbon's ADAT as s/pdif input or output, and it also doesn't seem to work as ADAT out into an RME ADI-2 Pro (which should be able to use just two channels from the ADAT...

Re: GUI freezes frequently with 2021.6 on M1 Mac

You are in denial. Yes, you are repeating yourself. If you don't believe there is a problem with 2021.6 and .7 with GUI freezes/beachballs, then you are wilfully ignoring those who are reporting it...

Re: Will Carbon work with Live11 and Logic

Works ok with Logic, but you have less control over routing than you do in PT.

Latency isn't awesome with AVB - USB (at least RME's drivers) and Thunderbolt are both much better than AVB. Playing...

Re: coreaudiod (Not Responding)

I've "upgraded" to Big Sur - I tried 11.2, 11.3, 11.5 and 11.5.1 and now on 11.5.2. I haven't noticed any improvement - Activity Monitor no longer shows the coreaudiod as red, but it has the same...

Re: MTRX Studio Speaker Pop When Changing Sample Rates

For Avid interfaces, I can only speak about the Carbon personally, plus this report here for MTRX Studio. I don't have an MTRX myself.
The Carbon clicks and pops for everything. It's Avid's newest...
