currently running an hdx system on a mac 5,1 os 10.14.6. Control surface is a d command. pro tools ultimate 2023.3

with my left hand i simply do a quick zoom using the r and t keys. super fast. that enables you to use the trim tool like you want. or use zoom toggle and set it up for this purpose. one key.

This was it! I actually figured it out before reading your reply, shame on me. Seems silly, but that's it. Audio tracks on input mode don't bounce.
