Re: Extra G4 IDE drives

John,

The G4 series PowerMacs, both QS and previous generations, have 2 IDE channels. Each channel can have two devices on it - one designated Master and one designated Slave.

Re: Correct levels for 16mm

mfife's suggestions are right on the mark.

Academy roll off is the standard EQ curve that is applied to the soundtrack during projection. There isn't much information above 10k, but really 8kHz...

Re: SSD is BROKEN??

Dr Bill is right, your SSD firmware has been corrupted. This happens to mine with some frequency when it gets hit with time code in high speed reverse.

Fortunately, the fix is rather easy. Make...

Re: DV\'s and machine control?

Dean,

I can now report that the 1500 does not exhibit the 3 field audio delay that I had described in my previous post. Clearly, this problem was a flaw in the other DAW that I was using.

I am using a DSR-1500 with all the optional boards (component analog, digital i/o, and IEEE-1394) installed.

It does have TC in and out (on BNC connectors) as well as a built in generator. With...

Re: Unique File Id\'s 5.1.1 and Post

Paul,

Why insist on creating a new copy when using the pencil tool? If the pencil tool can modify the audio data, why not alter the UFID of the existing file the first time the pencil tool is...

Re: Referencing Movie Bummer

To do any type of editing in MoviePlayer 3.x or 4.x you need to get the Pro version of Quicktime. Version 2.5 didn't have this "restriction".

Re: Seagate Cheetah 15,000 rpm

It is true that Seagate managed to produce faster spinning drives without an increase in heat and power consumption. Infostore magazine had a comparison recently or the 15k vs. the 10k. The...

Re: Time stamp/Postconform 2.0

This is one of the frustrating things about Postconform/timestamps. The reason it doesn't work is that the timestamp function in PT instead places the timecode data in the user timestamp which...

Re: Quicktime 48Khz Picture Freeze

This is a long known issue with 48kHz PT sessions and QT movies. Has nothing to do with data rate or your hardware.

You indeed need to have about 15% more footage than you are going to use, but...

Re: Sony DSR-80 Layback problem

The bad video image during audio layback is a design problem with all DSR-80 decks. There is not enough processing power in this machine, nor do I believe is there a bi-directional codec, to handle...

Re: ProTools Version 4 to AVID NT 9.1

Jake,

Won't the conversion to .wav will remove timestamps of the audio files, which might be important for the Avid? What about using the new DigiTranslator to instead generate OMFI media?

Yes it is indeed possible. What you need is a device that sends out AES or SPDIF null code at the desired sample rate (47956 or 44044) and connect it to the SPDIF input of your AMIII. ...
