Re: Mac Suggestions...

That's the point though, I'm looking at something self contained, not another Mac Pro. Have no need for PCIe. I think it's going the way of SCSI accelerators myself;)

Re: Mac Suggestions...

Hey appreciate the info.

Yeah they have my Mac Pro WAY down the list in speed on Geekbench, but as someone else pointed out on GS, they don't measure drive write and read or something, so you may...

Mac Suggestions...

OK this may sound crazy but I'm on a 2008 Mac Pro. It's been great, I've never even seen the CPU usage up to the HALFWAY point, even on large sessions in Logic and PT.

But I'm curious. Is there...

Re: Anyone tried 10.6.8 yet?

I'm still on 10.67 and holding until Lion is approved, don't see much point in upgrading since everything is solid here...

Re: Working with Picture Question

Yeah good idea! I think PT should have this feature built in....say, a "Flip Region Sync" command. But yep that would work, thanks.

Working with Picture Question

When you drag a region around you can watch the video move accordingly, based on the start of the region. Is there a way that you can have PT base the current picture location based on the END of a...

Re: Is anyone using Spectrasonics software?

PT9 has been very stable for me, but I have literally seen it POOF! and quit while instantiating even one Omnisphere. I use VE Pro as well, for a last minute addition I need while in PT, but all the...

Re: Shouldn't There Be A Track Color Standard?

"Yes you can. Go to Setup>Preferences and in the display tab on the right hand side you can change default colour coding. For 'Default Region Colour Coding' choose 'Track Colour'"

Too cool,...

Re: Shouldn't There Be A Track Color Standard?

Thanks Bill, I didn't know that. Will dig around and see if I can find the track name standards anyway.

Re: Shouldn't There Be A Track Color Standard?

I can't seem to get enough color variation to have it broken down that far. So I've just started using one color for guitars, one for all keys, one for brass, etc.

Here's a dumb question because...

Re: Shouldn't There Be A Track Color Standard?

No I'm talking about a standard of colors for different types of instruments, lets say.

Something of course the user would configure per song, not the program. Of course we do that already, but we...

Re: Will Avid abandon DSP processing?

I've never had any trouble with anything but VI's, which TDM systems would have trouble with as well. RTAS been just fine.

Re: Shouldn't There Be A Track Color Standard?

No I realize we can all "make our minds up" I was speaking about a standard that would make mixing a breeze for people moving from not just their own sessions but sessions of others. Be much easier...

Shouldn't There Be A Track Color Standard?

Does anyone think it would be a great idea to have a standard for track colors?

i.e., Guitars/Blue
Strings/Brown
Piano and keys Green

Etc etc.

I am trying to work out one for myself as...

MC Mix, Anyone..Do These Things Work?

I've been observing at a distance for a few months....on the one hand there seems to be a TON of problems with all this stuff, and yet, AVID has been very good about supporting older units with...

Re: Presonus Faderport...Does This Thing Work?

Got my new replacement, now the fader works. Pretty cool. Still have to unplug it and plug it in again on launching PT as you say. But not bad, I can probably get used to having this around!

Re: Slowing the Transport

Why don't you just put it in EA mode so you can drop the BPM down to a slower tempo?

Re: Soft synths on P9 = disaster

It's been explained to you, and your options are simple....VE Pro for the time being, or Logic and export to PT. Do not expect PT to be a VI friendly program ...yet.

Re: Soft synths on P9 = disaster

I agree, I've seen others discuss this timing thing, I just haven't run against it because as I said I would not use PT for serious midi/vi stuff at this point in time. Without BIP it's useless,...

Re: Soft synths on P9 = disaster

Though I love their sounds, the East West PLAY engine has a long history of complaints by DAW users, I'm not sure I'd blame PT for having trouble with it as well.

With no BIP PT is not ideal for...
