Re: Existing Perpetual License Owners

We are very proud of it. Did you know that in Finland there are more saunas than cars per capita?

Back to the point (and do not shoot the messenger) things will be much simpler once Avid stops...

Re: GPU cores on MacStudio matter?

If you want mini, you want mini. Simple mini box. If you want super connections you buy something else. Just my not so humble opinion.

Re: HD Native Power Supply

Just beware of grounding issues.

I had one HDN|thunderbolt bricked because of some strange issue with electricity. The bricked box went to Avid and I got a replacement, but I did not get (and did...

Re: GPU cores on MacStudio matter?

Yes, most good docks take TB in and relay TB out. But if the point is using the mini, dock is kind of counterproductive (IMO). Thus the real benefit of studio hardware lies in connectivity (and large...

Re: GPU cores on MacStudio matter?

Studio is much much more than GPU. Mini is good for what it is, but it is limited in i/o ports. Even with greatest CPU it would still be crippled. VERY capable though, but you need to be okay with...

Re: Using an HD Native Thunderbolt w/ the new Macs??

Hats aplenty.

I give you this. There may just as well be badly coded thunderbolt driver than it is possible to write a good USB driver. Darryl has proven at least RME does it very well. Generally...

Yea, I take it back. But you would be amazed how much we type in sauna now that phones have been waterproof for over 5 years...

Re: Avid has reopened the sale on reinstatements

The cost would be called "future proofing" as it becomes hard to find systems that run PT10 (and there are plenty of new things released since PT10 so it would not only be administratrive fee...)

Re: Existing Perpetual License Owners

Only problem here, sorry Avid, is the confusing terminology. People do not understand what they are buying, or worse, when they need something they have no clue.

1) perpetual license... sigh, just...

Re: Using an HD Native Thunderbolt w/ the new Macs??

Only thing I miss is the 64 i/o which I have via HDN but would cost me a kidney to have from Apogee. Old 192's are still fine.

DigiLink is still the most stable i/o no questions asked, but since I...

Re: Avid has reopened the sale on reinstatements

If your friend has PT10HD license, my most sincere advise would be reinstating to current version (and keep renewing the support plan)

Re: ARA2 Melodyne support coming to next version of Pro Tools

Without ARA you need to read the audio into memory, with ARA you don't do that but instead need performance from your storage (which is not a problem nowadays).

HD = Ultimate = Flex, a.k.a. the most expensive tier.

Re: No system audio through HDX card with Apogee converters

Re: No system audio through HDX card with Apogee converters

Reading this thread again, I notice your system specs are incompatible. As in not supported, but with a magic wand you can possibly get it working. With luck.

Specifically 2022.07 is not supported...

Re: GPU cores on MacStudio matter?

Unless, of course, Avid comes up with a clever way to offload plugin processing to GPU.

Unlikely though, because maintaining cross compatibility between Mac and Win has been too important lately....

Re: Avid Link says PT 2022.9 is on the way

I wouldn't hold my breath on Apple Silicon native code. Why? Ventura is not yet out and it is pretty much guaranteed PT needs to be stable on Ventura first. So the earliest possible native support I...
