I have the both units, IMHO as sound quality the Apollo X is better, and also UAD driver/software is more stable and more flexible, also the expandability with Carbon is very limited compared to UAD.

I'm using now the Apollo with PT12 HD and its working fine, in fact, I have another PT9 native license that I consider to upgrade to 12 and use it rather than keep paying 399$ every year.
