Thanks Craig! The link really helped. I mostly use external preamps and a Lavry converter (connected to the Digi's 003 spdif). I have to make sure that I can achive these connections flawlessly.

Problem solved by trashing databases and preferemces, although I still don't know what happened.

Weird! All sound files in all my sessions are acting like this! Only the virtual instruments, midi, etc are unaffected.

I checked the file outside of PT (media player) and it sounded good. Nevertheless, no matter where I check in PT it sounds very low. Even after raising the volume 36 db its still too low.

Thanks CME. That seems to be the easiest way. What about if I wanted to use an external SRC like R8Brain? Do I have to use R8 as the SRC and then open the SRC'd file in PT for dithering?

I use a Lavry Blue AD converter with a Digi003 rack unit. I always set the clock source in PT to external when tracking and mixing (and set the Lavry to internal). I think I read or saw a PT video...
