Quite true, large, slower drives, such as those in laptops can definitely benefit from partitioning.

As far as defraging, we use Copyagent (for OS9) and CarbonCopyCloner(OSX) to backup our system...

agreed, using a line out would eliminate wiring the aux outs for the more me factor, you'd simply dial up whatever you wante dto hear in each mix off the aux, end of story. Less cabling, less to go...

Whatever you're doing, you are obviously not paying any attention to phase. I suggest you download the free pluggo peakme, whcih contains along with a very nice peak/rms meter, an excellent phase...

Only if you want the same mix in the control room and the headphones. If you ahve a multichannel HP amp, giving the musicians independant mixes can be very helpful to them.

I'm guessing you either
A: run through some sort of stereo processor to achieve the stereo guitar or
B: double mic

In neither case, since the guitar dissapears in mono, one track is 180 degrees...
