Thanks for your reply Jeffro. I although I liked the Idea of having Ultimate for the price of Studio, these things will always come back and bite you in the end. I haven't checked my studio pc yet...

Well gone from excited to pissed off. Seems like the timing of when I get the plug in I've paid for is actually very vague. Even the support people (at least at the first level) have no idea....

Thanks Jeffro. Sorry for the late reply. I received a confirmation email from Avid confirming all was well and that I should receive the plugin with in a week. Very excited about it as well. :)

Why has this been so hard for Avid to do? I use BFD and work my way around it's own midi editor because I can quickly see what type of drum I'm playing, but it has big disadvantages when changing...

Had the same issue

Jeffro's KB article fixed it for me. The command prompt entry specifically was the fix. The problem occurred when I uninstalled a demo of BFD3.

Well it was a pain in the arse...

But predictably after formatting the machine the issue is gone for now. Also my copy of PT12 arrived so I've made the jump from 10 to 12 as well. We'll see how we go. Thanks for all the tips along...

Yeah I'm recording to the D drive. I've been using Pro Tools for quite a while now so I'm acquainted with most of the do's and don'ts. Having said that I'm always happy to listen to the experts....

Good news of sorts. I plugged the 003 into my Mac Pro running LE 8 and it's clean. No distortion after playing for about 15 minutes. So now it's the pain in the arse part.

Changed the firewire card. Reseated RAM and other cards. Looked good for a few minutes and then the distortion was back.

Also uninstalled the last round of windows updates just in case. Didn't...

It's not the preamps. Changed from 8 to 7 with no effect. That leaves interface or PC.

This seems to be a common issue with Pro Tools of all versions with not many resolutions on the forum. I have occasionally had an issue of an ugly distortion appearing when I record enable a track....

That's it in a nutshell. 100% correct. I've tried different mic's cables and used the phantom power from my desk but a condesor mic plugged straight into the rack with phantom power does not work....

I've tried all 8 xlr inputs with an At2020 and a Rode NT1a and neither mic gets a signal.

Yes I am using an XLR cable and yes I tried other Mic inputs. Specifically Mic lines 1 and 2.

Is there anything that needs to be done in the software to activate phantom power? I'm running PTLE...
