Re: Sweetwater - good place to buy??

I have been to their physical location in Ft Wayne, IN, which is just down the road about 40 miles. I bought a Kurzweil K1000 keyboard from them in 1987 when I saw an ad in the local paper. They had...

Re: AMD Phenom X4 Test

Marbla62,

I'm glad to see you are able to get the Phenom II up and running with PT. That is definately good news. I would not be uphappy with your results, but I always look for a little more....

Re: What's the fastest and most stable CPU/Motherboard combo right now...

Ouch!!!

Well, the "Run as Administrtor" is certainly worth checking, cause it has solved or improved some unusual problems.

I'm stating to get low on things to check... but I would examine...

Re: What's the fastest and most stable CPU/Motherboard combo right now...

WATYF,

Your HD tests look pretty good on the OS and Audio drive. Lacie looks a bit slow. I think you have been able to eliminate quite a few things, including your 002 as the possible problem.

Re: What's the fastest and most stable CPU/Motherboard combo right now...

Your latency number look good to me, so I would say this is not the core of your problem.

I would also benchmark your HDs with ATTO, or another utility. I recently benched my older 32 GB Raptor...

Re: What's the fastest and most stable CPU/Motherboard combo right now...

The reason I ask about the latency values is because if your latency falls between 100-200ms or higher, you could have some difficulties recording at low buffer settings, even if there are no large...

Re: What's the fastest and most stable CPU/Motherboard combo right now...

WATYF,

You have done quite a lot to solve this problem. Just a few more questions.

1) What H/W Buffer are you tracking with? Is there a buffer where you don't get the errors?

2) What is...

Re: What's the fastest and most stable CPU/Motherboard combo right now...

Certainly, something does not seem right. If you are having the same basic problem across two different systems and windows installation, I would look for factors that are common to both systems,...

Re: record (playback only 256 up ) why 128 no record

The latency on my older IBM T41 laptop test about 85ms with the wifi and network off. With both enabled, the latency is about 500ms. So, these changes can make a big difference in PT performance and...

Re: record (playback only 256 up ) why 128 no record

Sayed,

Good, looks like you posted a copy of your results. Looking at the DPC Test, I would say that latency could very well be your problem. Latencies of 500-1000 can prevent recording a low...

There are a lot of different things that could be causing your problem, so it make take a little time to rule out various causes. But I think your problem is fixable.

Re: SSD (Solid State Drives) Alleviating The Need For Two Hard Drives For PT?

Yes, I guess I did...:-)

Good work on sluthing out the RAM drive possibilities. I am going to look more into it. I'm sure 4 gb would also work for me just fine.

I'm thinking that the SSDs...

Re: SSD (Solid State Drives) Alleviating The Need For Two Hard Drives For PT?

Well, I picked up a OCZ 32g Vertex SSD to take a look at and play with a bit. So far, I can say that it certainly works fine with PTLE 7.1 on my system. Looks to be stable and records fine.

The...

Re: SSD and PT8

This is what I am thinking, too. Recently, OCZ has made some very dramatic gains in the Vertex line of their SSDs. Studdering is gone and read/write speeds are 200+ mb/s. And they are giving some...

So, the onboard firewire port on the P5N-E works fine with PTLE? Is that correct? If so, then that is interesting, because we have no other reports of PTLE working with the chipset in your mobo. ...
