That makes sense because I think that the project mix demands a lot of firepower but the project mix only has a fw400 port.. how did you plug it into the fw800 port?

xpand plug and setting up instrument/midi tracks

do you need to have an instrument track and a midi track every time you want to use xpand.. i'm really new to midi.. just seems kinda weird to me..

someone said that i need to order the xpand plug in order to "hear" midi so i think i will do that.. i'm still at loss as far as hooking my motif up to my computer and controlling things in pro tools...

i just ordered the xpand thanks.. looks pretty suite.. so that should enable me to mix and master and "hear" the midi.. kewl

would i have been able to accomplish the same by connecting a midi...

I'm in the same boat.. I have a project mix and I don't have midi setup.. i do have a motif es so i'm sure i can figure out a way to use it as a controller but i haven't yet. my big problem for right...

I'm trying to do the same thing except I'm trying to have my Motif ES6 do the controlling. I'm also inexperienced with MIDI and I can't hear any MIDI playing. I'm working on a pro tools session...
