Re: Rumour or Fact

Why run the cheap upgrade path? To shift stock, of course! Those guys who did buy into it will get a preferential cross-grade to the new, let's call it MBox HD or whatever. This will hopefully...

Re: BM Intensity pro woes

re-seating cards is kinda one of those things you sometimes have to do in PCI world. Did you seat it back in its original slot after that and see what happened?

Re: Anyone here have a Mojo with 8.0.3 that plays quicktimes flawlessly?

I don't really know the answer to that i'm afraid- it's certainly not taxing the machine at all. I believe the driver must be passing the video directly to the BM card, because the machine doesn't...

Re: Anyone here have a Mojo with 8.0.3 that plays quicktimes flawlessly?

I'd say it was rock solid in sync for a computer playback system. I couldn't fault it over a 50 minute playback. I'll never trust non-linear pictures as much as I would a tape, but i've also never...

MacPro octocore 2.26, 8gb RAM, full set of internal drives, 002 on firewire port and intensity in the next slot up from the Nvidia GT120.

Re: Cedar DNS One RTAS Plug in

There was one occasion where Jack and his son were outside what looked liked a really quiet location, the music academy (in "LA" on Oahu, of course) but still you could hear the fades around the dial...

Re: Cedar DNS One RTAS Plug in

I've been noticing that a lot on Lost this season...you don't like to say too much on a public forum because there are usually "producer factors" at work, but it really has been very noticeable -...

Re: Surround music - extracting a center

For real world usefulness, you would be best off looking into the UM226.

Re: Pro Logic II for Film

PL2 is purely a domestic format, not used in cinemas, AFAIK.

Re: digi003 with canopus

I'd really recommend a blackmagic intensity pro instead of a Canopus. No need for an extra FireWire bus and a great HD video output.

Re: How To : The ADR Gospel

Haven't you been? It really is extremely tight! You should go, and when you get into your hotel room, try to reconcile that it isn't the entrance hall you're in, but the entire room! I once stayed...

Re: PCIe video out with non-Blackmagic card

not an AJA Kona, for certain. I very much doubt it will for a matrox.

Re: regarding harddrives....

Heh. LaCie drives have the worst rep i've ever known. No-one in London trusts them any more. I have two dead ones sitting under my desk. The power electrionics are terrible.

Re: HUI controler for iPad?

yeah, but you're not going to do your serious mixing on it, are you? it'll mostly be used as a remote for when you're playing an instrument/recording foley or VO, that kind of deal. It's not going...

Re: HUI controler for iPad?

Ooooh, now that would be lovely for when recording a little bit of foley by yourself! :D

It's in the iTunes store now for a ridiculously low price. £5.99!

Re: upgrading to 5.1 what do i need???

No, it's whatever the broadcaster tells you it is. It's not "digibeta = -10" and it sure as hell isn't "HDCam = -10". they can both and do go all the way up to 0.

Re: Does anybody use the Digi 003 & Full Production Toolkit??

well it's not very high-tech, but write-to-end is the sort of thing i'll use for mixing in an atmosphere that lasts a whole scene, so once i'm into the scene and happy with the level, I will zoom out...

Re: Does anybody use the Digi 003 & Full Production Toolkit??

I'm lucky - I was brought up with Ye Olde Automationne back on Logic 2s and 3s, so I'm a latch & touch boy. I could really handle a Write To End button but I have workarounds for that, I ain't...

Re: Does anybody use the Digi 003 & Full Production Toolkit??

those things you mention will be fine on a dual G5, I've printed 40 tracks through muchos bussing to 6 x 5.1 stems in LE on a G5 before now.

If you do go Intel, watch out...you'll be pissed at...
