So now, usually whenever I try to record something, instead of displaying the Assertion message, it simply closes the session. Without warning or saving. Very strange. Any ideas?

I literally performed all of those steps, and yet the problem still persists. (though my assertion error isn't when I bounce stuff to disc, it happens when I try to record new data.)
