Re: Bounce volume

You could try the above, then export and compare that to your bounce to see if there's an issue.

Re: Master Mix Down. Computer or external 2 track mastering unit.

It seems the Qu-32 is a mixing console.. Are you mixing through it, or mastering through it? 99.7% of people mix back to a DAW. A very small percent use DSD or Analog reel to reel to mix down to...

Re: 2bus level is -3 db

It could be an issue with the metering type and setting that you are using.

Some daws (including ProTools) incorporate standard meters that use a square wave used for the calibration, where the...

Re: Mixing hiphop vocals to a 2 track instrumental

Those 3 processors will be the basics and get you most of the way there, but if you were going to try mastering the song from the 2 bus, I'd consider, opening a new session for the mastering and...

Re: Quality Issue

Granted your recording chain is not great, but it doesn't make sense that just by turning them up or bouncing your vocals once they're recorded, that they are boomy and distorted.

Does that...

Re: Gain Structure/Stock compression question

You usually don't want to brickwall limit more than a couple/few dB on any bw limiter or the sound can go south quickly. As mentioned, it might be best to feather it in with a compressor or 2 before...

Re: Hardware Distressor/Limiter/Compressor

Sure. although I'd rather not get pulled into these kind of arguments/justifications, but
You won't find a linear phase eq in the analog domain. It's impossible

There's no analog brick wall...

Re: Hardware Distressor/Limiter/Compressor

You'll need an DA/AD loop available on your converters, and wire the Distressor through that and then assign the hardware I/O insert from that loop to the track/bus.

The Distressor is a mono unit,...

Re: How do I prepare levels for mastering?

I wouldn't be too concerned with the number -6dB.

Leaving "some" headroom as long as no channels or plugs are peaking is the main goal.

What I'm saying is, it seems like you want to go out of...

Re: Using main analog outputs to master a recording

You'd be better off mastering the project using a eq and limiter in your daw and then a program life Hofa to assemble the master redbook cd or ddp. Using the cd recorder with it's built in eq and...
