Re: DVD-RAM from DIVA formated FAT16 - any ideas anyone?

The disks will mount on a Mac, you just need a dvd-ram drive. If you don't have one internally on your computer, you can rent a firewire dvd-ram drive from Coffey Sound in L.A. I have done this many...

Re: mojo suddenly stops working - help!

A mojo not working properly? I've never heard of such a thing!

I had the same thing happen to my and I had to reboot the computer, and also reboot the mojo itself. I've noticed that I can't work...

Re: Feature Request

Yeah. Quickkeys is the short term solution. I use quickkeys for a bunch of stuff in pro tools. It's a really cool program.

Re: How to play back MXF in QT?

I think you'll have to export the video in whatever format you need. I haven't figured out a way around it yet.

Re: OT - Opinions on field recording microphones?

This really depends on what you are recording. For a basic setup:

Some sort of MS setup. Either a Schoeps rig, Neumann RSM191, or the Sanken CS7. Don't forget the wind protection.
Some good mono...

Re: PC Vs. Mac

Two things.

First, is personal experience.

Second, is an employee (someone who shall remain nameless, but works in product development at HP) of HP told me never to buy an HP becuase they are...

Re: PC Vs. Mac

I would switch from an HP to a Dell. HP's are notoriously flakey. Pro Tools 7 works great on PC's. If you are a PC guy, and not a Mac guy, then stick with the PC.

Re: flakey avid editors dumps problems on sound guy,,,

I am not saying to totally ignore the problem. If this question were posed to me, I'd be able to answer in about a minute, because that's all I used to do at my old job. However, as a sound editor,...

Re: flakey avid editors dumps problems on sound guy,,,

It sounds like they are getting bwav mono and they want bwav poly, but they don't know how to articulate that. Of course, the version of Avid will dictate how many tracks in a bwav poly the...

Re: Field Recorders: Phantom Power Battery Consumption

Depends on the mic and the recorder. Of course, the material you are recording will dictate what kind of mic you use.

Re: record video into 7.2?

I had some more oddities tonite.

At random times, the picture would stop being displayed. The only solution seemed to be to restart the machine, and then it would come back. Also, I found a bug...

Re: record video into 7.2?

That's exactly what happened to me. Luckily I'm working night shift prepping stuff for deilvery, so I don't have anyone breathing down my neck when it happens.

Overall, the whole system runs...

Re: record video into 7.2?

Well, I don't have a hard copy, and I tried to look on the website, but the page wasn't loading...and I tried on several different machines, so that's why I asked.

I know the way it works already...

Re: record video into 7.2?

Yeah, we are currently using a mojo, but it creates .mxf video files, and I was hoping to have something that would make a .mov for me. I will be editing the dialogue and creating new audio/video...

record video into 7.2?

Hello all. Long time no speak.

I am currently working over at Technicolor Interactive (no longer at Coffey Sound), and we are doing a rather involved session for a game requiring facial motion...

Re: Expert Cirtification: Employment?

It's been my experience that being pro tools certified means nothing in the real world. I also think that having an AA is not enough. You should have a BS under your belt. Many places I've dealt with...

Re: Voice recording studios in LA

Check out Technicolor Interactive at http://www.technicolorinteractive.com/

I've been doing a lot of dialogue editing there lately, and the two voice over recordists are really really good. Nice...

Re: DV Toolkit 1 in PT 7

I do think DV Toolkit 2 is worth the cash, it's just a matter of not having the dough right now, that's all. It's something I am considering to do, but I'm doing less and less work at home, and more...

Re: Field-/location audio recording

In my opinion the Deva IV or V are the only options if you are doing more than 4 tracks in the field. Metacorder and Boomrecorder are very cool backups, but I would never use them as a master...

DV Toolkit 1 in PT 7

Will it work. I've been boned by Quicktime 7. Now pro tools won't work. I can upgrade to PT7 and OS 10.4, but I don't have the cash to get DV toolkit 2. Will DV Toolkit 1 work in PT7?

Re: Just updated ITunes and Quicktime, now have issues

The problem is that none of the old re-installers will re-install with 7.1.1 already there. Ii have Quicktime Pro, and I'm worried that if I just trash it, and start over I'll lose quicktime pro.
