mastering compression

How much do I compress during mastering? Is this a "do what sounds best" issue? I like a lively mix in the studio, but when listening to it on a car stereo it does sound a little jumpy, so my 3:1...

Dont forget the other important maintenance routines; rebuilding your desktop once a week or month, and whenever you do crash in PTle, trash your digisetup and PT preferences and your DAE folder...

When it comes to drums it's 50/50. I make the worst drummers sound good with editing software and samples. Sad but true, and so time consuming I wish they'd just play it perfect the first time.
