The "perpetual" license isn't perpetual, unless your hardware and OS were perpetual too. And modern day OSes stop working reliably on newer hardware whilst pulling features against which old software...

new hardware inside needs new drivers, and they place a minimum version requirement on the OS as a whole. CPU refreshes are pretty bad, as intel seem to have a new chipset out for every CPU revision...

PT is only some of everything the CPU executes. PT's audio is only part of everything PT runs when active. Think playing and scrolling on an integrated graphics GPU/CPU.

I've left sessions open overnight in PT10 in the past. Yet to do the same in PT12 but I'd be looking into potential plugin issues or even hardware issues if I ever experienced stuff like this again....

ok let's kick blame around a bit. in my case, computer would start again after switching off, and sometimes keeps doing it, unless i unplug the iLok2 from the USB port it's in.

wow

0 on the mic, +4 on your interface. Set input levels on the interface mixer so that when you're shouting into the mic from close distance you hit -6 or even -10. Turn off all effects/plugins...

Who isn't? Keep in mind PT10 native is sufficiently stable on OSX 10.9. It's from 10.10 that the problems really begin. Not sure how things sit with HD3, hope someone else can shed some more light.
