As Eric is saying, slight slowness in a UI might be memory related but any true audio latency is cause by internal buffering and if the system is too slow to keep up with those buffers then Pro Tools...

My advice is always add as much internal SSD storage on a modern mac as you can afford. And especially on a Studio, that's some fast SSD.

From an engineering snob viewpoint the gold standard PCIe...

I have no experience with using those Echo Dual NVMe Thunderbolt docks. Sonnet seems generally concerned about fan noise, has been whacked for that before and now seem to largely use Noctura fans....

I don't have experience with your drive (I'm a Samsung Pro M.2 and WD Black M.2 guy). And I avoid any reliance on these small individual enclosures by using Sonnet PCIe expansion chassis (you pay $$$...

As Ben points out these are all USB enclosures and will run slower than a Thunderbolt enclosure.

No. That is not how subscriptions work.

You have to be extremely careful with terminology here. What *exactly* do you have? What exact product licences are showing in ILM and your Avid account?
