I found that I had to re install the Os and HD Core to get it to run smooth
Try Trashing Pref's and rebooting.

I dont have that Checkbox in my Version 7.3.1 CS5
It is a random problem anyway with out changing anything it will just happen and makes any kind of editing a nightmare.
