Re: Digital speed/pitch correction questions

Sounds perfect...
I can't even afford to look at that!

Digital speed/pitch correction questions

I sometimes do restoration of analog recordings. This often includes correcting the speed due to analog device mayhem in a recording's past.

Naturally when possible, the speed is calibrated on...

Re: Best way to prepare final CD for mastering ?

Give the mastering house the full quality print of the mix in the original format with no conversions.
Ex: Track at 24 bit 96kHz. Mix at 24/96. Deliver 24/96 mix with no conversions or final...

Re: Mastering opinions?

I'm not so much interested in discussing favorite DAW choices or bugs in certain software. The question is in approach.

The CD format is obsolete in that recording studios operate at high res...

Re: Mastering opinions?

Well, this is just another lossy mp3-like thing. The idea is it's better than mp3 (or Apple's AAC) but it's still lossy. The hype I've seen behind this is based on the falsehood that studio quality...

Mastering opinions?

It seems like it might be appropriate to go a bit higher in level (a little into brick-wall with a limiter) for a CD (16/44.1) version of a master compared to the 24/96 or 24/88.2 version which...

Suspect older session files have lost resource fork. Help!

I restored an archived session from DVDR. No errors but... nothing works! The session files will not open. I suspect the resource forks got lost somehow. Maybe some stupid idiot accidentally checked...

damaged sd2 file recovery needed

I have a bunch of sd2 files that likely lost the resource fork of the files. So the audio data should still be fine. Is there some app that can write the big endian pcm data as a wav file? Or...

Re: Protools 9.05 still deleting & corrupting files. Are you SERIOUS Avid???

The best I can come up with is Protools can get in a weird state with core audio very easily. Protools absolutely throws a fit whenever you switch to a session at a different sample rate from your...

Re: Pro Tools Corrupts My Recordings

Yes, the random 'start recording corrupt audio' feature. It's insidious not knowing if the take you're recording will actually record. Downright pathetic on an 8 core 3.33GHz i7 MacPro that I mix...

Re: Protools 9.05 still deleting & corrupting files. Are you SERIOUS Avid???

Are we only talking about corrupted headers here or are we also discussing the bug where all of a sudden, recorded takes are garbled (a relaunch of PT brings the system back)?
I've found no warning...

Re: Identify ch order in 5.1 wav from header?

Is there really no field for this? The channel order is just assumed and yet we have 3 different systems?

Identify ch order in 5.1 wav from header?

Is there some flag in the wav file header that identifies which channel order 5.1 file it is? You know, identify L,R,C,Lf,Ls,Rs (music), L,C,R,Ls,Rs,Lf (film) or L,R,Ls,Rs,C,Lf (dts ch order).

Re: Best app for authoring 24/96 5.1 LPCM to blu-ray?

Thanks for the reply.
I looked that up...
$500 and apparently the OSX version isn't available yet. I know for a fact that Toast v10 is advertised to do this but DOESN'T (never finished the...

Best app for authoring 24/96 5.1 LPCM to blu-ray?

I just don't have the budget for the pro apps like Sonic Solutions. The affordable apps all seem to specifically have the audio features disabled (Toast for example). I tried tsMuxer but it crashes...

Re: Creating multi channel wavs

Oh my! $499 to combine 6 wav files into a single 5.1 wav!!!!! Um... no.

Someone help! I see free apps that split 5.1 files to mono but not the other way around.

Re: Creating multi channel wavs

Oh yeah? Any idea how?
I have 6 mono wav (24/96) to convert to a single 5.1 wav. Preparing for LPCM blu-ray authoring as well here. Too long for PT bounce engine (which has been fired by me anyway)....

PT 7.1 installer

How can I get my hands on version 7 or 7.1 HD? I'll pay. Digi says they can't sell it anymore (even with a v8 purchase) and they now ignore my requests.

Why? A few plugs that have not been updated...
