Forget it! The Firewire 410 would be great if they could get the driver written properly. Right now, and for the last umpteen updates, they continue to be incompatible with other Firewire devices....

Firewire 800 is NEVER a resource hog. A G4 or G5's buses and internal speeds are many times faster than Firewire 800. Both firewire 800 and 400 are much faster than necessary for handling very high...

The issue with firewire 400 and 800 is nothing more than bad driver code. Consider this: Video data streaming, with 96k audio, can stream in a firewire 400 port and directly out to a firewire 800...
