When I did a fresh install, I tried to fire up PT11 and it always gets hung up while loading the "CORE PLUGINS".

No. PT stops cold. That's as far as it goes. There is no further loading progress under the error message.

Repairing permissions and trashing them did nothing. I even tried another install after fixing permissions. no change. The same message comes up.

exact same problem here on my Harpertown, running Lion 10.7.5 with 16gb of ram.
I am the only user/admin with no admin password set at all.
I tried installing twice.
