I have tried this as the problem started after protools told me that there was a critical up date and took me to the 9.0.5 page.

Make sure you are recording in 24bit, this gives around 120db dynamic on the recording, then aim for an average level of around -12db for the guitar, even lower if its still clipping,...

I could be mistaken but I'm affraid that smarrt, is not compatible with the digi hardwear "asio driver" you will need to use the computers on board audio.

Sounds like you have both machines set up as wordclock master, you need to configure one of the two as slave if not when you change clock speed in one the other will not follow.
