Re: OT: Playback in QT is quieter than in DAW
I don't know how to run a LUFS meter against something being played in QT. It's the same file in the DAW as being played back in QT, so I'm either doing something stupid with Master Fader or post...

Yup, the QT volume slider is pretty big these days, and it's all the way up.
So it's not that!

OT: Playback in QT is quieter than in DAW
I did a quick n dirty extract from a long stereo audio track with a single Metric Halo Channel Strip on the Master Bus - comp, EQ and limiter all engaged - and checked the resulting file in...

Yes, I use Carbon Central, so I'd set it to Internal there (i.e. unchanged) - I can't remember if AMS has the same options, but I imagine there is no need to alter anything. The Focusrite is where...

Re: exFat or APFS for SSDs Used with macOS/Pro Tools
Good point, but HFS+ support is still there in the OS for legacy compatibility, it's not a good choice for a new system. APFS has been out for 7+ years now.
I agree with everything else you wrote,...

Re: exFat or APFS for SSDs Used with macOS/Pro Tools
I hadn't seen the T9's - somewhat aggravating that Samsung is concentrating on speed way beyond what most desktop interfaces can manage, whilst not moving past the very old 4GB barrier, and not...

After doing this you need to restart the machine, or the login items won't get started under Rosetta.

Re: Performance Degradation with Carbon and Sonoma?
Tony,
I don't think anything is going to change much in a few days. You said you read something somewhere - that is this thread.
Anyway, the problem here isn't Pro Tools 2024.3 - it's Sonoma and...

Check your audio hardware too. Carbon isn't certified with Sonoma (with known problems), as an example.

Well, it's definitely not a doubling of power, because an efficiency core is nothing like as powerful as a performance core.
I do agree that without an explanation, it is hard to know what this...

There's no fundamental reason I can see why this couldn't happen - other DAWs allow a change of audio device (including I/O assignments) without shutting down, but PT does not. I suspect, under the...

Caution is well-advised, but the particular problem highlighted in that article is with iLok and AU plugins. So, not relevant to Pro Tools.

Re: Is it possible to Mirror MON L-R to Adat Outs?
Not via a Carbon hardware setting, but you can send your main mix to multiple destinations using the Pro Tools menu:
Setup -> I/O -> Bus Tab
And Ctrl-clicking on multiple outputs for Mon L-R

Re: avid carbon with wavelab
I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work. You will get high-ish latency (3-4ms in/out, 7-8ms roundtrip) and no use of any of the DSP or remote preamp controls. But it should work otherwise with...

As detailed in several other MacOS sub-forum threads here, the "Pro" variant is a poor choice for Pro Tools, especially in M2 and M3 guise. This is due to the lack of increase in performance cores...
