I'm pretty sure its the battery overheating over time. the bottom of the laptop is a bit swollen and I hear that is a symptom. And the model of laptop is pron to battery...

I"ve been able to recreate the issue. after having a session open for a few hours, the cpu usage goes from 46% to 100% and red about every 45 sec.
at this time the i/o selection is slow.

so it was obviously the dynamic plug in processing that changes the cpu usage. it wasn't jumping back up during playback because my recorded tracks were blank.i assume

now with the cpu at 75%...

update....




when i open one more eq 7band the cpu spikes to 65% then back down, then the i/o selection takes a long time again.


defintly can't work this way...

so i just opened protols and now there is no lag when selecting ins and outs.


I have 100 tracks at 88.2 khz, with dverb and channel strip on every channel and the cpu is only at 5%?

I have ultimate on my mac i7. lots of power and stable.
my only beef is that when I click to select an input or output, it is extramly slow.

my goal is to keep recording with the TDM system and mix with the macbook pro using Studio.


no round trips between systems. just move the session to Protools studio for...
