OK, I think I solved my problem. After consulting the BFD forum I found out the update I downloaded for 1.0.5.0.39 was not version 2 (RTASv2). It was the first version. You must download v2 to fix...

There are instructions on their website on how to open Sampletank. I had to go there to open mine. They (the instructions) work. You do need to open MIDI and Aux tracks though.

Just checked...the 002R has 4 mic pres. As suggested above, I could go into inputs 5, 6, 7, or 8 to bypass the pres.

I guess I had it in my mind that going into the line input with a 1/4" and not an XLR would bypass the pres. I need to check the manual on that though. I'm a low tech kinda guy and pretty new to this...
