Simple you would think? WRONG

You would think that simply registering a product you bought would be simple but sadly no! Avid in all their wisdom thought it would be a great idea to make a simple registration process a fkn...

Re: Best Core 2 Series Desktops-Results and Specs

Keep in mind that ambient temperatures are going to have a big effect on cpu temps as well as case ventilation. Another thing worth considering is if the heatsink is seated correctly. A nice little...

Re: Best Core 2 Series Desktops-Results and Specs

Most of those guys over there at XS know what they're talking about, so yeah it's a good place to start.

I have a MF board too with a Q6600 and posted some bios settings somewhere in this massive...

Re: will pro tools work on new x58

I wouldn't be counting on it anytime soon.....

There are Intel chipsets that do work however tha haven't been qualified by digi, so I guess when someone builds a i7 PC..... we'll see if it works....

People

I just had a major problem on my current desktop computer and I have to buy a new computer now. I had a friend that recommended these specifications. My goal is running PT LE 7.4 with Music...

Re: Disk usage discussion

3JDamon is correct. 32 tracks even at 24/96 isn't anywhere near enough to max out any 7200RPM drive.

Check....Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and ensure DMA...

Are you recording to external drives? If so via firewire or USB?

Re: Best Core 2 Series Desktops-Results and Specs

All good by the look of those screen shots. How low did you get the Vcore before it became unstable at 3.2Ghz?

Re: Quad Motherboard Problem/Advice

That's what I mean, I'd rather not root around trying to fix something that should work in the first place.

A P35 chipset board that uses the Intel P35 Northbridge and ICH9(R) southbridge are all...

Re: Quad Motherboard Problem/Advice

I know you said you ain't going ASUS again but I'd be looking at the P5E board. Failing that option, Abit, DFI and Intel are also options.

I've deliberately not mentioned Gigabyte because I...

Re: Best Core 2 Series Desktops-Results and Specs

There's still the P5E series boards and I can't see any reasonable reason why a P45 wont work.

Re: Best Core 2 Series Desktops-Results and Specs

When OC'ing always try to go for the lowest Vcore possible that still allows for 100% system stability. IMO 1.39V is too much for a 3.2GHz OC, so all I'm really trying to say is that you should try...

Re: Best Core 2 Series Desktops-Results and Specs

A little on the high side depending of course on ambient temps and what heatsink fan combination you're using. That looks a good CPU though with a fairly low VID.

I'm thinking you should be able...

Re: Best Core 2 Series Desktops-Results and Specs

1.39V is quite some volts for 3.2GHz. Do your idle and load temps again with coretemp and let us knnow how you go.... you should be able to do 3.2GHz at around the stock (allowable intel spec) 1.35V...

Re: Best Core 2 Series Desktops-Results and Specs

1. I'd go for either P5K (P35)or P5E (X38/X48) series ASUS board. Gor for 4Gb DDR2-1066, it will allow for a little more performance and DDR2 is seriously cheap anyhow. Definetely go for the Quad if...

Re: Best Core 2 Series Desktops-Results and Specs

Are your HDD's/DVD drives from the Dell SATA or PATA? Keep in mind modern boards generally only have one IDE interface which allows for only 2 devices. Ideally you'd like them to be SATA.

Is the...
