It still seems really odd to me that Avid encourages those with lapsed permanent licenses to get them up to date, but refuses to sell any new ones.

…but as per the lengthy discussion in this thread, the Carbon bundle is only quasi-perpetual. You don’t have reinstatement fees if you lapse, but you have to pay subscription prices, not perpetual...

Quite something to come to this. I suppose you have the option of stumping up $99 for one month if you find down the road you're lacking something critical.
