Re: click track help

Use the Identify Beat function in Slip mode to capture the first few bars of the song. The trick to making this work is to match the grid on the timeline with the main transients (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th...

Re: LIVE Playback Question

Just wanted to add that I tried albee's suggestion and found a decent workaround using the Artist Transport. It involves programming a few softkeys on the Artist Transport.

First right click the...

Re: LIVE Playback Question

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but I am doing some live work that requires this feature. Reaper has a slick feature using the SWS extensions that allows you to embed programming within a...

Re: Question Using ProTools for Live Sequencing

I did not have a good user experience with the workflow of Ableton Live. This was a few years ago though....perhaps I need to revisit Ableton again.

Re: XPand! Patch Changes

I find for using Xpand in a live environment MIDI program change is absolutely nesessary. I have VSTI's that are able to do this and it is a shame that the RTAS instruments by Avid cannot do this as...

Re: Recorded Double Tempo?

Sounds like you might have elastic audio enabled, what is the timebase of your tracks set to? Samples, ticks? Do you have audio tracks? MIDI tracks? There are ways to fix your track fairly quickly...

Re: Alternatives to Behringer ADA8000 for 8xADAT-Lineout conversion (auto-mute proble

The Alesis AI-3 will do the job nicely. Unfortunately it has been out of production for awhile. They do pop up on ebay quite often and can be had for around $200-300. Never had any phasing or latency...

Re: protools not playing back without reason

You shouldn't need to have reason running if you properly bussed the outputs to audio tracks. Are the audio track outputs set to your main outs? Are you using a master fader? Is your I/O configured...

Re: A bit baffled by my dverb test results

Based on your sandra results you need to have a separate physical (not partitioned) drive dedicated to recording. You will get better performance using an external drive with your laptop.

Re: Transport causing midi ghost notes....

I would doubt it. Usually using an unsupported firewire configuration results in having disk read/write and buffer issues. I'm sure by using an approved f/w card, you will have better performance but...

Re: New computer...

No, you cannot partition, you need a separate physical 7200 RPM drive for recording. SATA and Firewire drives both work well.

BTW the variable speed hard drive in your spec wont work.... get a WD...

Re: Crackling in record mode (even when not actually recording), cannot record > 10 s

Do you have another physical hard drive (as opposed to a partition) to use as a record drive? That is the recommended configuration.

Re: Click track is - random and sporadic..!!

What kind of processor are you using AMD or Intel? Some AMD processors need a OS kernel level patch from AMD in order to fix MIDI timing issues IIRC.

Re: What's up with the DIGI 002R?

Re: How would you use/setup this studio?

albee is right on the money as always. Your acoustic treatment will make more of a difference than having that old mackie board taking up space and not adding any real value to your setup. Acoustic...

Re: Melodyne/Rewire

I use the studio version with the new editor. It makes my workflow 10x faster than with the cre8 version I had earlier. The RTAS melodyne bridge was clunky for me to use. Just my opinion..

Re: How would you use/setup this studio?

How you proceed will depend on a lot of things.

Do you have a budget?
Are you recording a full band live?
Is your goal to just record yourself or others?
Are you recording in a treated room?
