Re: Mixing to Commercial Levels

I do, to some extent. I don't bother trying to get anything as loud as a current major-label release.

But here's a question for anyone who, like me, thinks it's ridiculous how CD levels keeping...

Re: Mixing to Commercial Levels

I've always been far from happy with the overall volume of my final mixes (unmastered) too. I can't help but wonder what the final mixes of my favorite artists' songs sound like before they get...

Dither question

Recently, I've been recording at 24 bits for the first time. I always used 16-bit before. Anyway, I know next to nothing about the way dither works, and the PTLE manual hasn't done a whole lot to...

Re: Will buying an 002 make me a better person?

I'd like to hear more on the 002Rack vs. Mbox debate. Is an 002R really worth it for someone who records by himself? (taking into account the huge price difference and the fact that someone like me...

Re: 001 to 002R - several questions

Also, does anyone know whether Hardware Exchanges are done directly with Digidesign or whether I'd have to go through a Digi dealer?

Re: 001 to 002R - several questions

Just to make sure I'm clear, are you talking about me buying parts and building a computer myself? I don't feel like I have the technical knowledge to do that, even if I'm being told exactly what...

Re: 001 to 002R - several questions

I've seen the name Allenstein on the board, but I know nothing about it. Can you point me in the right direction and give me some basic info?

I’m looking into upgrading my Digi 001 to a 002 Rack, and I need a new recording computer too. Tell me what you think of the following computer configuration:

Re: 001 to 002R - several questions

Is a Digi-approved Firewire card something I'd have to buy separately, or would it come with the 002?

001 to 002R - several questions

I've been using a Digi 001 with PTLE 5.1. It looks like the piece-of-trash Compaq I run it on might have just sighed its last breath. So I'm probably going to be in the market for a new recording...

Re: Autotune

Chris, thanks for the tip to stay away from the vocal processor. But have you heard the rack-mount auto-tune? If so, what did you think? How did it compare with the vocal processor?

Re: Autotune

But one couldn't use the plugin live (without a computer on stage being involved).

Has anyone used one of the rack-mounted processors? Does it accurately correct pitch in real time?

Autotune

Considering there's only about $30 in cost difference, would you recommend the Autotune plugin or the Autotune rack unit (which can correct pitch in real time)?

What distortion/delay pedals do you guys use that you really like? And what type of sound do you get from them?

I meant to include music style but forgot. For lack of a better term, I play "modern rock." A better way of describing some of the sounds I want is to list some bands whose sound is similar to what...
