I noticed that mine is doing that as well. I guess it's normal behaviour. The Getting started manual also states something like "...after a small startup sequence, the mute light comes on..."

It indeed seems that "something" is grabbing the Digi002 and setting it to 44.1 before the Digi driver has the chance to set it to the samplerate you specified in Pro Tools.
