Re: MacBook Pro M1 MAX - Pro Tools Performance?

Pro Tools wouldn't run on it at this point anyway. They never support the latest regardless of what stage the OS is in.

Can you name one instance in the last 20-25 years where Avid has been ready...

Re: MacBook Pro M1 MAX - Pro Tools Performance?

Indeed. We have a few M1 Minis that we are testing our Live/Max playback system. It's great, we'll deploy to the show soon. Other than that there is a hold on any Apple Silicon for audio. ...

Re: MacBook Pro M1 MAX - Pro Tools Performance?

Seems like I say this every couple of weeks. It's not an Apple issue. It's an Avid issue that has been occurring since the dawn of Pro Tools. Due to the release/build schedule at Avid they are...

Re: M1, Pro Tools Compatibility

Monterey is a crap shoot in terms of compatibility. Every time a new OS version is released some in the PT camp claim the OS is at fault. Yet most other apps work well. The issue here is, and...

Re: Has anyone tried Pro Tools 2021.7 on the Monterey Betas?

The issue as I understand it is there are only 3 controllers/busses for TB in the current SoC. HDMI is from a bus from the GPU not using TB bandwidth. The fourth port would need to share bandwidth...

Re: Has anyone tried Pro Tools 2021.7 on the Monterey Betas?

I understand your point. You guys are the edge cases wanting to convert HDMI back to TB. The point is HDMI is everywhere. To refer to it as legacy does not reflect what's happening in the market. ...

Re: Has anyone tried Pro Tools 2021.7 on the Monterey Betas?

(emphasis mine)

I wouldn't consider HDMI to be a legacy connection. It's an order of magnitude more prevalent than any alternative including DP and TB3. It's the consumer/prosumer standard right...

Re: Monterey is now available

I wouldn't upgrade unless you had a compelling reason such as other mission critical software. This includes M1x Pro and Max, We can't get anything past 2021.3 to run reliably on later Big Sur or...

Re: Monterey Compatibility

It's easier to run Pro Tools on an M1Pro than it is to run Big Sur on an M1Pro. ;)

Always best to hold off for a machine that makes money. Unless of course that machine is a current shipping...

Re: Monterey is now available

For those wanting/needing to troubleshoot this remove all plugs and add them back one at a time until you find the culprit. It’s brutal but it gets it done. In my experience it's almost always one...

Re: Apple Macbook Pro - M1 Pro & M1 Max

OWC looked at the M1 series busses last year. The M1 architecture supports 2 full bandwidth TB3 busses. It will be the next version SOC before we see a change.

Re: Pt | 2021.10

It's an every year all the time issue regardless of there is a platform switch or not. Other devs are not having the same issues as they did in the other platform switches. Those that used standard...

Re: Big Sur 11.6

The store is only allowing upgrades to the last point releases of legacy versions. Good if you need to go back to the previous version but not if you just want to go to a point release. These days...

Re: maybe why people issues with 2021.6

This has been an issue as old as Pro Tools itself. That's why rigs that are required to generate revenue everyday are typically locked a few versions behind. The evolution of Pro Tools is such that...

Re: Only 4 cores system usage on M1 Macs

The emulation is only using the performance cores. It's not specific to Pro Tools. Graphics are processed in the GPU in the SoC not the main processor. Those on the cutting edge often bleed. ...

Re: Pro Tools 2021.6

Upgrade blew up the Soundgrid Server connection to Pro Tools. Anything else will still see SGS. Memory usage is far lower, by about 30-40% even with the Waves instances running native. CPU use is...

Re: Pro Tools 2020.12 M1 Mac Mini

I would bet on that. :D Or at least there won't be a native Apple Silicon version by then. A leak from a source that's hit and miss is saying it could be late this year or into next before the M1x...

Re: Waves WLM Plus & NPR Loudness Standard

Re: Update to 2021.3.1 now midi and software unstable

I haven't played enough MIDI in real time on this version to know but I can playback 30-40 MIDI/VI tracks recorded on previous versions no problem. 2018 Mini, Big Sur, 2021.3.1.

Looks like MIDI...

Re: New 24" iMac M1

As stated in other threads on a system on a chip you will never see user upgradable RAM. A big part of SOC is integrated RAM on the silicon. It’s the new way of doing it.

The M1 Macs are entry...

Re: Processor recommendations for new MacPro

The DUC is largely smaller operators, musicians, composers and hobbyists. There are several that work at large scale but for the most part it's mid and small users/shops. There are still things to...

Re: Recommended iMac Specs for Pro Tools 2021.3 (Pro Tools STANDARD) BigSur Compatibi

New Apple Silicon Macs are slated to ship "third quarter" according to well respected leakers. Looks like July at the earliest, probably announced in Sept given the history of launches. It's meant...

Re: 2021.3 IK plugins - how to download?

It should show up in an educational account.
