Your Mac Pro compatibility isn’t the issue. It’s a USB interface.

You need to concern yourself with driver support. Make sure the interface has drivers for the macOS version you’re running.

weird midi editor behavior in 2022.4/groove cell not well implemented

The user you quoted has a problem with drag and drop from the Finder/Explorer OS window and Groove Cell. Not sure why it’s not working as it’s touted as a feature.

I don’t have time to install and play with the plugin, but that can’t possibly be right. No one can be THAT daft.

It’s not a matter of compromising. If one plugin is not Apple Silicon native, then the entire app and other plugins need to run in Rosetta, so your essentially back to square one.

First thing that sticks out is your OS. You’re running Mojave. PT 2018.7 is only supported up to High Sierra. It may not be the cause of the issue, but it also may well be.

You can’t drag and drop from the timeline in CR8 either. It’s not the plugins, it’s a limitation of the AAX format.

No it was definitely there from the start.

I don’t know about Time Machine as I don’t use it, but CCC was able to clone Catalina boot drives on release of the OS.

That definitely began in Catalina, not Big Sur.

Signed System Volume is indeed a feature added in Big Sur, but the read only system volume which you described above...
