Been using Firewire for a few months now and no problems - make sure you get 7200rpm drives, also the 001 works perfectly with all G4s up to 533 - I don't know about the 677/733 yet!

If it works with a Mix++ it should work with a 001 - The Mix system is much more demanding than a 001.

Try the Promax card with v2 drivers! It's working a treat in my mix++ system - cheaper than the Appian card as well!

Yes, use the IAC busses in OMS to send MTC to other applications. Click MTC to port in the session setup window and select IAC.- there's lots about it in the Protools manual!

Yep - it seemed to be a dodgy ATTO card - as the problem dissapeared when I changed the card and put in the same settings I was using on the other card. The AIT drive works like a dream!

I believe the Maxtor actually has 2Mb of RAM Cache as opposed to the IBM/Seagate's 512Kb. Maybe the maxtor is best?

Any advice on getting the ATTO card working with a yamaha 8/6/24 - the cdr has the "j" firmware, the card has been trottled down to 10(5) ... wide deselected in express 2.3.2 for the CDR ...any clues...
